The Gifts and Legacies Program enables families and organizations to make contributions in memory of loved ones. The program also provides means for individuals or corporations to give back to the community or provide recognition of an achievement, milestone, extraordinary contribution or special event.

The Gifts and Legacies Program follows an easy and seamless five-step process:
Staff highlights opportunities that may be of interest to the donor, and sets up an on-site meeting to determine the location of the commemorative item
A formal agreement is prepared and signed
A plaque inscription is decided upon
The commemorative item is ordered and installed according to season
A tax receipt is issued for the entire donation amount
Donors may contribute:
In kind gifts such as landscaping, paving stones, playground equipment,etc.
Waste and/or recycling receptacles
West Kelowna can also work with community and historical organizations to create plaques and unique landscaping features.

The Gifts and Legacies Program is also a component of the West Kelowna's participation in the Communities in Bloom Program, which places high value on community contributions and involvement. West Kelowna has achieved the highest rating possible - 5 blooms - in every year it has competed in national competition. Communities in Bloom evaluates entries on the following six criteria:
