About Westbank Cemetery
The City of Kelowna owns and operates the Westbank Cemetery. The city's memorial gardens are located on an idyllic stepped plateau above Smith Creek Ravine with expansive views of Okanagan Lake and the Monashee Mountains.
The 8.2 acre cemetery is located at 3200 Elliott Road and is the traditional resting place for community families and pioneers. The cemetery was established in 1925.
Since 2013, the City of West Kelowna has invested approximately $1.3 million to expand and transform the Westbank Cemetery into a memorial garden, capture the surrounding natural beauty and create a place of serenity that honours the memory of loved ones.
The cemetery facility has been expanded along the eastern slope to include:
A memorial path with cremation plots
A memorial wall;
An interment meadow
Pathways and staircases
The eastern viewpoint has been enhanced to include:
Columbaria and mausoleums
The cemetery has been transformed from a barren sand and rock landscape to a memorial garden with meandering pathways lined with thousands of trees, shrubs and perennials, with irrigation and fencing.
