Location & Attractions



West Kelowna is a visually stunning community and a four seasons playground. The community is located on the western shores and hillsides of Okanagan Lake and boasts:

The municipality is located at the junction of Highway 97 and 97C (Okanagan Connector) and is the primary gateway to the Okanagan from B.C.'s most populous regions, the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Capital Region.

Population Growth

The City of West Kelowna's population was last estimated at 32,655 living within an area of 123.53 square kilometres (2016 Census, Statistics Canada). West Kelowna is the second most populous municipality in the Regional District of Central Okanagan, and fourth in the Okanagan Valley. West Kelowna is a rapidly growing community, recording with a growth rate of 5.7% since the last national census in 2011.

A Diverse Economy



The community has a diverse economy, which includes agriculture, construction, light industry, lumber manufacturing, retail, services, tourism and wineries. The City of West Kelowna has more than 1,500 businesses and, according to the 2016 Census, nearly 12,500 private dwellings.

Services & Community



Incorporation



The City of West Kelowna was officially incorporated on December 6, 2007 as a District Municipality. Before then, the area had been governed as a rural area of the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) and the Province of British Columbia:

West Kelowna was reclassified from a District Municipality to a City on June 26, 2015. West Kelowna became British Columbia's 51st city.
