Way-Finding Signage Defined
Way-finding signage, also called directional signage, provides a user friendly system of navigation that markets a community and enables pedestrians, motorists, and recreational users (cyclists, etc.) to easily orient themselves and arrive at their desired locations independently and with ease. It can also provide an opportunity to communicate an area’s cultural and historical identity.

West Kelowna Initiatives
On July 23, 2013 Council directed staff pursue the development of a municipal Way-finding Signage Program. Read the July 23, 2013 report to Council (PDF).

Staff has engaged consulting firm MMM Group to assist in the development of a District of West Kelowna Way-finding Signage Program.

The development of the program is in its initial stages. During the week of December 9, 2013 MMM Group and the District will be meeting with stakeholders and the public to provide them with an opportunity to express their (or their association’s) thoughts on signage locations, identify additional destinations, and set priority areas for implementation. This will allow MMM Group’s design team to develop preliminary mapping of sign locations and begin to develop a framework for signage types and messages.
