Where's the Station Located?



The Westside Residential Waste Disposal and Recycling Centre accepts standard household garbage, some recyclables and select yard waste. The centre is located on Asquith Road, off Shannon Lake Road, (find it on a map) and is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (G
ate closes at 3:50 p.m.)

What Materials Are Accepted and What Are the Fees?


Before heading out, please read the Banned Materials Disposal Guide, to determine if you should be going to an alternate location.

Accepted Household Waste



Please note: as of October 1, 2017 drywall is accepted only at the Glenmore landfill in the City of Kelowna. The landfill's Ttipping fees will apply.

Standard residential waste (i.e. materials not included in the banned materials, recycling or yard waste categories) can be taken to the centre for the following fees:

  • $2.50/bag
  • $10/load up to 4' X 8'
  • $30/large load
  • $50/extra large load or tandem axle trailer
In addition to standard residential waste, the following goods are accepted, subject to applicable fees:

  • Appliances (containing ozone): $10 each
  • Clean wood, unpainted, untreated:
    • $1/bag; $6/load up to 4' X 8'; $10/large load, $15/extra large load or tandem axle trailer
  • Metal: $10/load
  • Propane tanks, batteries: Free
  • Tires with rims: $1/tire up to 24 inches

Accepted Recycling



No charges apply to accepted recyclables; materials must be sorted and dropped off in the appropriate bins in the following categories:

  • Cardboard and paper
  • Containers (plastic and tin)
  • Glass
  • Plastic bags
  • Styrofoam
  • Used cooking oil
  • Donations to Big Brothers and Sisters
Bottles requiring a return on deposit should be taken to the Boucherie Bottle Depot.

The Boucherie Bottle Depot and Planet Earth Recycling accept some recyclables. For more information, please read the Recycling Guide.

Accepted Yard Waste



The centre accepts: Fruit droppings; grass clippings; leaves; pine cones and needles; plant trimmings, pruning clippings and branches up to 5 cm (2 in) in diameter and 1 metre (3 feet) in length; pumpkins; and, weeds. Charges are applied based on the type and volume of the load:

  • Garbage bag: $1/each
  • Utility trailer or small load (4' X 8' maximum): $5/load
  • Larger hauling vehicle or trailer: $15/load
  • Vehicle with a tandem axle trailer: $20/load
