Public Education

Preventing Fires and Injuries

Educating the public about how to survive  a fire and prevent fires from starting in the first place is an important responsibility of the fire service.

Public fire and life safety education programs provide a way for the fire service to reach into the community and encourage positive change in order to create a safer community.

Our Fire and Life Safety Educator instructs children and the general public on every facet of fire safety, including the importance of having smoke detectors near your bedrooms, having a current home escape plans and fire, and techniques on how to prevent fire and injury, like having a properly working fire extinguisher handy in your home and knowing how and when to use it and learning techniques like "stop, drop and roll."
